System Planning
Three Steps to a Balanced Layout
Confirm the Water Source
Identify available flow, working pressure, pump outlet size, and elevation change before selecting fittings.
Use a Loop for Multiple Sprinklers
For three or more large sprinklers, a full loop can improve water distribution and help balance pressure.
Place Takeoffs Where Needed
Use inside-loop fittings for rooftop sprinklers and outside-loop fittings for yard or perimeter coverage.
Typical Residential Reference
Plan Approximately 200–250 Feet for a Full Loop
This commonly equals four or five 50-foot lengths of 3/4-inch hose. Measure the actual route and allow extra length for safe routing and repositioning.
Pump-fed systems: a 1 1/2-inch Y with garden-hose adapters can transition a larger supply to the 3/4-inch distribution system.
Longer Systems
For longer hose runs or higher sprinkler demand, use 1 1/2-inch loop hose with matching 1 1/2-inch fittings. The larger diameter helps reduce friction loss and maintain flow across the system.
